Project: Window seat
Features: Two large full-extension drawers and two enclosed storage sections.
ShopNotes: A large part of any custom cabinetry is making the furniture fit into the space that you have. Sometimes that can be complicated. This client wanted a window seat to fill the alcove shown at the right but did not want to remove any of the 80 year-old moulding and trim. The best solution was a custom fitted one-piece top. This scribed top had to match nine different wall planes and four detailed trim sections, two of them 10 inches wide, one of which is displayed here. The placement of the top alone took two people eight hours to map, scribe, cut and fit but the result was an amazing window seat that was seven feet long and nearly three feet wide.
