Project: Home bar
Features: Birch material with a rich cherry stain
ShopNotes: Sharing the room with an entertainment center and gaming tables, this home bar adds an entire kitchen to a finished basement. Upper units incorporated glass doors and shelves with interior lighting and crown moulding, while the base units provided nearly 60 square feet of counter and bartop space. The bar was built to house a Kegerator and wine cooler, while the back counter included a dishwasher and sink. To complete the look, the center-of-the-room support post was enclosed in the same style and finish as the cabinetry. The bar and countertops were built of the same material and with the same stain as the rest of the cabinetry, but included a durable epoxy coating to prevent moisture and spill damage. This epoxy coating is poured onto the top and allowed to cure for 72 hours before being buffed and polished to a silky smooth high gloss finish.
